General Overview
About Arunta Resources
Arunta Resources is an Australian minerals explorer with a vision to deliver significant shareholder returns through discovery and development of advanced iron-oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) deposits in the Arunta Mineral Province of central Australia.
The Arunta is relatively unexplored compared to the Tanami Region to the north and the Gawler and Musgrave Provinces to the south – all of which have yielded world-class discoveries.
There is growing focus on this region as a result of significant new mineral discoveries, both by Arunta Resources and other companies exploring for IOCG and SEDEX-style mineralisation.
The Company has two 100% owned project areas within the Arunta Province – the Southern Cross Bore Project and the Hatches Creek Project, respectively located 75km and 325km north-east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
The Southern Cross Bore Project comprises a major IOCG mineral system containing over 20km2of surface mineralisation and offering potential for multiple centres of mineralisation. Exploration programs are currently underway at both the advanced Johnnies Reward gold-copper prospect and a number of outstanding targets within close proximity including the Black Angus and Wagyu prospects.
Sustainable Development
Arunta Resources understands that strong community relations, environmental sensitivity and effective corporate governance are all fundamental factors in sustainable development.
Arunta Resources believes that a commitment to sustainable development is vital to maintaining supportive relations with regulatory authorities, native titleholders and the community at large.
Arunta Resources endeavours to comply with all legislative and common law requirements affecting its business, and in particular, occupational health and safety, the environment, native title and cultural heritage laws.
Arunta Resources recognises, considers and respects that environmental issues may arise from the Company's activities, and complies with all applicable legal requirements in order to reduce any potential negative impact from its operations.
Projects
Southern Cross Bore Project
The Southern Cross Bore Project comprises a major iron oxide copper gold (IOCG) mineral system containing over 20km2 of surface mineralization and offering potential for multiple centres of mineralization.
Southern Cross Bore is located close to infrastructure and just 75km north-east of the major regional centre of Alice Springs, which provides significant advantages for exploring new mineral resources.
The SXB Project has a 50-year exploration history. The most advanced prospect is Johnnies Reward, an IOCG prospect where recent and historical drilling has identified broad zones of gold-copper mineralisation within a large-scale skarn system.
Johnnies Reward was originally explored by Alcoa in 1984 with two diamond holes returning outstanding intersections including 51m @ 1.83g/t Au from 75m including 5m @ 4.84g/t and 9m @ 5.61g/t and 32m @1.06 g/t Au from 112m.
Arunta completed two phases of drilling at Johnnies Reward in 2012, returning very encouraging results which confirmed that the mineralisation extends at least 200m down-plunge from surface, remaining open in all directions and is interpreted to continue to at least 500m down-plunge.
Better intersections from this drilling have included 24m @ 4.19g/t Au and 0.33% Cu from 79m, 34m @ 3.83g/t Au and 0.44% Cu from 63m, 22m @ 1.23g/t Au and 1.21% Cu from 117m and 16m @ 2.01g/t Au and 0.15% Cu from 120m.
A number of highly significant and very strong cold-copper soil geochemistry anomalies have also been identified on the tenements, including a significant emerging corridor of surface gold and copper mineralisation at Black Angus, located 1.5km north-east of Johnnies Reward, where the Company is aiming to establish a maiden JORC compliant Mineral Resource.
Hatches Creek Project
In addition to Johnnies Reward, Arunta also owns 100% of the Hatches Creek Project, which covers the historical Hatches Creek mining field where over 2,800 tonnes of Tungsten was produced in the 1930s.
