Purchasing shares in a company buys you part ownership of that company. You're given the right to vote on who manages the company and receive a portion of company profits through the distribution of dividends.

CFD

Is an abbreviation for "Contract for Difference". A CFD is a 'derivative' that is derived from the underlying value of the share price. A CFD’s allow you to go long (buy the CFD) or go short (sell the CFD).

CFD's give you leverage.

Example: Buying a CFD in XYZ provides you with an opportunity to purchase the shares at a variable rates such as 10 to 1 ratio instead of the full upfront share value cost i.e. paying $1,000 instead of $10,000.

Green Living Design

Becton Development and Construction have for many years been at the forefront of Green Design Living initiatives for our projects with careful thought for the materials and products used to maximise energy efficiency, water usage and landscapes design to promote local flora and fauna. Becton has completed several projects of award-winning sustainable design including our Classic Residences Brighton retirement village development and in more recent years our One East Melbourne 5 star Greenstar office development.

Planting themes include a mix of hardy, attractive, low water demand, native and exotic species, specifically suited to an urban environment.

Native Plants

Sustainable landscaping is not only about planting natives. It can include food producing or permaculture gardens and planting deciduous shade trees to control solar access provide habitat and shelter. Becton prefers to select a variety of native trees and plants. These are hardy and extremely water tolerant. All native plants are chosen to enhance habitat value and sustainability. A large variety of flowering plants provides a rich source of food for native birds. Hardy native medium sized trees and a wide mix of shrubs provide shade and wind shelter.

Deciduous Trees

The deciduous trees are often considered and located to provide seasonal change and to allow penetration of sunlight in winter.

Sustainabilty

Becton has been at the forefront in environmental and ecological sustainability and energy and water efficiency in all of its projects.

Becton was a foundation member of the of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Victoria's Energy Smart Building program. As testament to its leadership role in energy efficiency, Becton won the inaugural 2000 Energy Smart Builder Award for its, resort-style Classic Residences development in Brighton. The project, officially recognised by SEAV as the then largest energy efficient development in Australia, sought a minimum four-star energy rating with many residences achieving five-star.

As long ago as 1999, Becton commissioned a comprehensive and independent review of energy and environmental issues to identify opportunities to achieve the best possible, cost-effective environmental outcomes to improve the quality of lifestyle for owners and residents of our dwellings and Becton employees.

Divercity Waterloo

A place that embodies the evolution of inner city living - where location and lifestyle are at the forefront of the masterplan and access to everything you love is at your doorstep.

Located in the new inner city hotspot of Waterloo, Divercity is a state of the art lifestyle building. Integrated features include a 20m outdoor lap pool with cabana lounges, BBQ area with outdoor pizzeria, a health club and the ultimate in relaxation an outdoor yoga studio. Lining the precinct is a vibrant retail hub with cafe´s, restaurants, providores and a public plaza with landscaped outdoor dining areas.

Becton has partnered with leading architects Turner and Associates and interior designers SJB, to create a place that offers a refreshingly different approach to urban design.

One East Melbourne

Becton's One East Melbourne project at 279-289 Wellington Parade South, East Melbourne located in one of Melbourne's most prestigious residential suburbs. This high-end residential project is designed by awardwinning architects Ashton Raggatt McDougall (ARM), with interiors by Claudio Silverstrin. One East Melbourne offers an uncompromising lifestyle to its discerning residents, with sweeping views of the CBD and Port Phillip Bay from many of the 85 premium, high-rise apartments.

Spread across 18 levels, this project is only 500 metres from Melbourne's CBD, close to the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Rod Laver Arena and leafy Fitzroy Gardens. One East Melbourne comprises 85 apartments with a gross realisable value of $107 million (average value $1.8 million). Project completed June 2009.

The Esplanade

Becton's 'Esplanade Apartments' are located at 562 St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

The site of the iconic 'Espy', as it is affectionately known, was originally part of the historic Esplanade Hotel, acquired by Becton in May 2001.

Following several years of planning, Becton developed and built what is today recognised as one of the most prestigious residential addresses in Melbourne.

The stunning design by international designer, Claudio Silvestrin, features a quality of interior finish never before seen in Australia.

The design, its strategic location opposite St Kilda Beach, and the low probability of any similar building nearby receiving planning approval, set this project apart in Melbourne's competitive market.

The Esplanade features 85 apartments with a gross realisable value of $95 million (average value of $1.1million).

Project completed June 2007.

333 Collins Street

333 Collins Street is not just an address. This landmark building is an impressive architectural work that sits alongside many of Melbourne's grandest offerings. In what is widely considered Melbourne's most prestigious city street, Becton proudly built this project from the ground up at a cost of $520 million.

Occupying 29 levels, the building has high quality finishes with the exterior comprising natural stone, copper domes and double glazed, tinted glass. The interior is equally as polished, featuring granite, sandstone and bluestone to complement the inspiring surroundings.

One of the key achievements of 333 Collins Street is its 19th century octagonal banking chamber, which was meticulously restored. The building is currently home to many of Australia's leading legal, accounting and management businesses.

Berry Street

Setting the benchmark for stand-alone freehold property, the Berry Street project comprises eight large houses on Berry Street and nearby Vale Street, in prestigious, leafy East Melbourne.

Designed by leading architects Edgard Pirrotta and Demaine Partnership, these homes are spread over four levels and are unrivalled for design, privacy and luxury.

The Berry Street project responds to the needs of a discerning market, and demonstrates Becton's ability to create bespoke solutions whilst delivering strong attention to detail.
