Share

Purchasing shares in a company buys you part ownership of that company. You're given the right to vote on who manages the company and receive a portion of company profits through the distribution of dividends.

Example: If a share price quote is $25, then that means one share is valued at $25.

Note: Shares are also referred to as stocks, equities and securities.

CFD

Is an abbreviation for "Contract for Difference". A CFD is a 'derivative' that is derived from the underlying value of the share price. A CFD’s allow you to go long (buy the CFD) or go short (sell the CFD).

CFD's give you leverage.

Example: Buying a CFD in XYZ provides you with an opportunity to purchase the shares at a variable rates such as 10 to 1 ratio instead of the full upfront share value cost i.e. paying $1,000 instead of $10,000.

Because CFDs are traded on margin, you must maintain the minimum margin level at all times.

Note: CFD’s are not recommended for novice traders.

General Overview

About Cullen Resources Limited

Cullen Resources Limited (Cullen) was launched in 1999 by way of a merger with Montague Gold NL. At that time the company raised $2.5 M to fund exploration at its two main exploration projects: Tick Hill in north-western Queensland and at De Courcy in the Wyloo Dome area of Western Australia.

The merger brought John Horsburgh and Grahame Hamilton, both highly regarded explorers and successful mine developers, to Montague. They previously co-founded Solomon Pacific Resources NL which was taken over by Acacia Resources for approximately $104 M in 1996.

They were joined on the Board of Directors by Dr Denis Clarke, Cullen's current Chairman and Mr. Wayne Kergnahan a former Director of Montague Gold NL, as Company Secretary.

Dr Chris Ringrose, Cullen's Managing Director, joined the company in January 2003 as Exploration Director, assuming his current role in November 2006. Dr Ringrose has 27 years experience in the exploration industry and served as Exploration Manager for Troy Resources for over 9 years prior to joining Cullen.

Projects

Mt Stuart Iron Ore

The Mt Stuart Iron Ore Joint Venture comprises Australian Premium Iron Management Pty Ltd (API) 70% and Managers, and Cullen Resources Limited, 30% and contributing. API is a JV between Aquila Resources Limited (50%), and AMCI Holdings Pty Ltd (50%). The Joint Venture is part of API's substantial tenement interests in the West Pilbara, including a joint venture with Red Hill Iron Limited, which forms a large, contiguous land package with significant resources of Channel Iron Deposits (CID's) already defined.

On 16 May 2007, the West Pilbara - Mt Stuart Joint Venture announced to the ASX an initial Resource Estimate for its Catho Well Channel Iron Deposit (CID) of 68Mt @ 55.38% Fe. The Catho Well CID is one of nine separate iron resources in the West Pilbara Region; centred approximately 50 kilometres southwest of Pannawonica, in which API has an interest.

On 7 March 2008, the API JV announced an updated Resource Estimate for Catho Well of 79.5Mt @ 55.34% Fe. Positives of the Catho Well Resource are the relatively low average phosphorous levels at Catho Well (0.037%) and average alumina levels of 3.06%. There may be the opportunity to blend this resource with others in the project area to satisfy potential product specifications.

On 14th December 2010, Cullen announced a Maiden JORC 2004 Ore Reserve Estimate for the Catho Well CID of 70 Mt at 54.8% Fe of Proven and Probable Reserves.

Subject to the completion of a "mine gate" sale agreement with the Australian Premium Iron Joint Venture (APIJV), this material will contribute to the main, blended product stream maintaining an average 57.2% Fe throughout the proposed 15 year mine life of the West Pilbara Iron Ore Project - Stage 1 mining operations. Cullen's ownership in this scenario equates to production of ~1.5 Mt of iron ore per annum for a period of 14 years. RFC Ambrian Ltd, as corporate advisors, is continuing to assist Cullen in matters relating to funding and/or value realisation alternatives for its interest in the Mt Stuart Iron Ore Joint Venture (MSIOJV) project.

Wyloo Dome Iron Ore

This is a Joint Venture with the Fortescue Metals Group Ltd which has earned 51 % and can earn up to an 80% interest in the iron ore rights on a group of tenements (EL08/1393, ELs47/1154, 1649 and 1650) in the West Pilbara Region which include Marra Mamba and Brockman Iron Formations along the eastern and northern margin of the Wyloo Dome. These formations host the adjacent Metawandy bedded goethitie-haematite deposits of Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd.

Paraburdoo Iron Ore

Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (Fortescue) can earn up to an 80% interest in the iron ore rights on Cullen's EL52/1667, located ~25km southeast of Paraburdoo in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia.

EL52/1667 includes potential for bedded iron deposits within the Brockman Iron Formations, along strike from the Paraburdoo and Channar Group of iron deposits.

Minter Project

At the Minter Project near Lake Cargelligo, Cullen is targeting stockwork and vein-type tungsten mineralization related to the granitic cupolas (domes).

Broad zones of low-grade tungsten mineralisation in stockworks of quartz-carbonate-pyrite veinlets in hornfelsed sediments are known from 1980s drilling (best intersection 27m @ 0.16 % WO3, PDH2). The target at Doyenwae is higher-grade stockwork and vein type tungsten mineralisation within or adjacent to the underlying granitic cupolas (domes). This model is based on magnetic interpretation and analogies to vein/stockwork tungsten deposits elsewhere, such as in China and Europe.

Exploration drilling and soil sampling by Cullen to date indicates an extensive zone of tungsten-anomalous stockwork veining is considered to be related to underlying granitic cupola(s) as the potential source of the tungsten mineralisation.

In June 2012, Cullen completed a combined RC percussion-diamond drilling programme totalling 536.8 metres in three holes to test selected geological/geochemical targets at the Doyenwae and Orr Trig prospects. Holes were designed to test beneath zones of anomalous tungsten + tin geochemistry outlined by earlier soil sampling and shallow percussion/aircore/RAB drilling.

At the Doyenwae Prospect, RC percussion hole MRC005 averaged 447ppm tungsten over the full 111 metre length of the hole with localised two-metre zones of quartz-scheelite veining assaying up to 0.35% tungsten. Diamond drill hole CMDD001, drilled to 258.0 metres at the Doyenwae prospect, intersected significant quartz + sulphide veining throughout much of the hole. Examination of the core with an ultraviolet lamp detected widespread scheelite mineralisation occurring both within quartz veins and as disseminations/aggregates in silica-altered sandstone units; particularly in the interval from 130 metres to the end of the hole. The true width of potential mineralisation in both MRC005 and CMDD001 is uncertain as preliminary observations of vein orientations in the CMDD001 drill core indicate that the holes may be drilling at a low angle to some of the mineralised quartz veins.

At the Orr Trig Prospect, diamond core hole CMDD002; drilled to 267.8 metres, intersected scattered zones of narrow quartz veining and localised silicification over much of the hole with scheelite being observed as disseminations in sandstone and within quartz veins in the interval between 100m and 250m. Although it would appear that hole CMDD002 has been drilled in an appropriate direction with respect to the orientation of the quartz veins, the amount of observable scheelite mineralisation is less than that noted in CMDD001.

Encouraging final assays have been received from selective sampling of diamond core hole CMD001, drilled at the Doyenwae Prospect to test beneath anomalous tungsten delineated in prior shallow percussion/aircore drilling. CMD001 intersected multiple scheelite-bearing quartz veins in host sandstone and siltstones over the 258m drilled (see Cullen's Quarterly Report announcement of 31 July 2012). In addition, disseminated to blebby scheelite occurs in silicified coarse sandstone units adjacent to the mineralised veins.

Initial sampling focussed on core with visible scheelite and returned numerous 0.5 to 4.1 m intervals assaying >0.1% tungsten. Higher grade zones included:

  • 1m @ 0.55% W (0.70% WO3) from 131.5m;
  • 1.5m @ 0.33% W (0.41% WO3) from 166.4m;
  • 4.05m @ 0.46% W (0.58% WO3) from 185.1m ,including 1.2m @ 1.22% W (1.53% WO3) from 187.9m;
  • 1.4m @ 1.08% W (1.36% WO3) from 232.7m and
  • 0.45m @ 1.05% W (1.32% WO3) from 243.0m.

These results are the best to date at Doyenwae, compared to previous shallower RC drilling intersections by Aberfoyle (1980s) and Cullen. Geological logging and structural measurements indicate that CMD001 may have tested only a part of the potential width of the mineralised vein zone, as the hole appears to have been drilled sub-parallel to the vein trend.

Mt Eureka

The Mt Eureka Project (in the North Eastern Goldfields) is located ~90km E of the Yandal Gold Belt. It covers approximately 450 sq km of highly prospective granite-greenstone terrane that, unlike the Yandal Belt to the west and the Duketon Belt to the south -east, to date has not produced a major gold deposit.

Cullen discovered significant gold mineralization at the Southern Prospect (2m @ 10.0 g/t from 50m and 7m @ 9.0 g/t Au from 116m in hole MERC 74; and 9m @ 6.2 g/t Au from 98m in MERC 75) in shallow dipping quartz lodes hosted by mafic rock but lacking continuity.

Cullen has been progressively reviewing the extensive database, and has undertaken field assessments of the nickel and gold prospectivity of its project in the Eureka greenstone belt Regional data and models for new minerals discoveries by others, such as “Rosie” – nickel (Duketon Mining) and “Garden Well” – gold (Regis Resources) in the Duketon greenstone belt, and at Mt Fisher (Rox Resources), have been taken into consideration when identifying priority target areas for drilling at Eureka (see Figure) as follows:

  • The northern and southern extensions of the Eureka North West mineralisation, where previous intersections of gold in conglomerate include: 8m @ 2.92 g/t Au. The conglomerate/greenstone contact is interpreted to continue for some 10km to the north and has not been tested by systematic drilling to date
  • The northern and southern extension of the Taipan shear zone – the Taipan target area has a best drill intercept of 22m @ 2.1 g/t Au, including 6m @ 5.0 g/t Au. It is a robust mineralised system of quartz veining, pyrite and carbonate alteration hosted by sheared mafic schists over a strike length of 700m and up to 100m wide (91m @ 0.3 g/t Au in “DDH1? from 133m) and open to the north and south
  • The Southern – Southern Extended shear zone under cover to the north east including previous drill anomalies in air-core of 24m @ 1.0g/t Au and 32m @ 0.2 g/t Au for follow-up, and to the south to Galway and beyond

The Galway Gold Prospect

This prospect was discovered by RAB/air core drilling across a gold-in-lag geochemical anomaly in 2001. A review of the tenor and position of this anomaly on Cullen’s aeromagnetic interpretation and regolith maps shows a major NW-SE alluvial channel lying south of Southern which overlies a number of interpreted intersecting structures. It is notable that a number of gold-in-lag gold anomalies sit at the margin of this channel and are controlled by structures, suggesting that other such geochemical anomalies may have been “stripped out”.

The position of Southern and other truncated geochemical anomalies suggests that numerous north and NW-SE trending shear zones and thrusts mapped beneath the alluvial channel are prime targets for gold. Although there have been some previous RAB and aircore traverses drilled in the channel, most holes are too shallow and too widely spaced to have effectively tested this area.

It is notable that the Garden Well gold deposit in the Duketon greenstone belt sits on the margin of a Tertiary palaeochannel, and that the Bronzewing gold deposit in the Yandal greenstone belt was discovered beneath thick, transported overburden.

Cullen has further prioritised the targets: the NW-SE structure which hosts the Galway prospect, only lightly explored, and the parallel structure directly beneath the alluvial channel are key targets for the next drilling programme.

Ashburton - Hardy Junction

Intrepid Mines Limited (ASX:IAU), sold the Paulsens Gold Mine, located approximately 15km north of the Hardey Junction JV ground, to Northern Star Limited (ASX:NST) in a deal which included sale of their beneficial interest in the Hardey Junction JV. Cullen holds a 20% Free Carried Interest to decision to mine based on a Bankable Feasibility study in this Joint Venture.

Northern Star has completed a 50m line spacing aeromagnetic/radiometric survey with interpretation of data in progress. A targeting ranking exercise now underway will determine the priority of future exploration.

Killaloe

In December 2010, Cullen and Matsa signed a farm-in agreement. Matsa can earn a 70% interest in the Killaloe Project by sole funding exploration expenditure of $500,000 within three years. Matsa has earned its interest and Cullen has elected to take a 20% Free Carried Interest (FCI) to a Decision to Mine (DTM).

Killaloe is located approximately 25 km NE of Norseman in the Eastern Goldfields of WA and covers Archaean greenstones between the Zuleika Shear and the Boulder-Lefroy Fault at the southern end of the Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt. The area is highly prospective for both gold and nickel deposits.

Within the Killaloe tenement area, ~27 strike kilometres in two parallel belts of ultramafics are stratigraphically equivalent to rock units hosting the world-class Kambalda and Widgiemooltha nickel mines to the north. Previous nickel exploration (1960 to 1982) comprised only limited percussion drilling along these belts.

Exploration for massive nickel sulphides by former joint venture partners Sipa Resources International Ltd and Nickel Australia Limited included ground electromagnetic (EM) surveys, and diamond, reverse circulation and air core drilling. Twelve conductors were tested and identified either as sulphidic black shales or as barren massive sulphides.

North Tuckabianna, near CUE

E20/714 lies approximately 30-50km east of Cue, covering the northern part of the Tuckabianna – Webbs Patch greenstone sequence, the eastern granite-greenstone contact, and possible greenstone enclaves within mapped granite. The principal exploration targets are gold and VMS-style base metal mineralisation in this under-explored northern section of the greenstone sequence, which is largely covered by colluvium and sand plain.

Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:SLR) on 10 November 2011 announced significant drilling results (including 9.3 @ 15.4% Cu with 2.0 g/t Au and 29.0 g/t Ag from 61m) from its high-grade copper discovery at Hollandaire. The Hollandaire discovery is adjacent to Cullen’s EL20/714 (~ 600m) and is hosted by the prospective Eelya Felsic Complex which extends into Cullen’s North Tuckabianna project area. Cullen interprets the Hollandaire deposit as a probable volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit. Worldwide, such deposits frequently occur in clusters.

An earlier biogeochemical survey by Cullen has delineated an arcuate trend that consists of domains with anomalous arsenic, lead-cadmium and cobalt-manganese. This broad geochemically anomalous trend may encompass known base metal occurrences in the Eelya Felsic Complex such as Hollandaire, Colonel and Mt Eelya.

In light of the recent Hollandaire discovery and Cullen’s detection of broad geochemical anomalies, Cullen commissioned an extensive helicopter-borne EM survey (VTEM) to confirm the priorities for further base metals exploration across the Eelya Felsic Complex as well as test large areas of Cullen’s property where bedrock is obscured by transported cover rocks and has not been subjected to modern EM surveying or effective exploration (see Figure). The EM survey was flown in March 2012 with several targets delineated.

The company completed a 7-hole, ~1000m RC scout drilling programme at its North Tuckabianna copper/gold project which targeted three conductors identified by the VTEM survey (100-200m line spacing).

Cullen’s drilling intersected disseminated sulphide (mainly pyrite and pyrrhotite, 1-20% visually identified over intervals of 1-20m downhole) in mafic and felsic rocks at or near the modelled conductor plates from the VTEM survey in all holes drilled. The drill samples assays include a best result of 0.19% Cu and 0.21% Zn from 62-64m depth in drill hole TNRC14 at the target NT3. The best gold result is 0.12g/t from 66-68m in drill hole TNRC11 at target NT2.
