Geology

The gold mineralisation occurs in steeply dipping low sulphidation epithermal fissure quartz veins. High-grade gold mineralisation defined in the project resources occurs within five deposits (Royal Shoot, Crown Shoot, Sovereign Shoot, Klondyke North and Kilkenny Shoot), each developed at the intersection of major structures.

The Royal extends over a strike length of approximately 350 metres, the Crown is approximately 300 metres in strike length and the Sovereign has a strike length of 150 metres. The ore bodies average approximately 5 metres in width.

Mining

The underground orebodies are accessed from a decline using the open stoping mining method with downhole sub-level benching with waste backfilling. Underground development was accelerated during FY13, providing the operation with greater production flexibility in FY14. With a focus on lowering costs, Cracow successfully transitioned to owner mining on 1 July 2013. This change allows more operational flexibility and a stronger focus on cost management.

Processing

Ore is free milling and is treated on site by conventional crush-grind-CIP processing to produce gold-silver-dorè. A total of 129,926 tonnes was processed at an average grade of 6.03g/t gold and a 92.7% recovery rate for FY14.

Geology

The Project is located near the northern end of the Westonia Greenstone Belt, in the Southern Cross Province of Western Australia's Archaean Yilgarn Craton. The Westonia Greenstone Belt comprises a series of outliers of predominantly amphibolite-grade metamorphic rocks extending approximately 100km WNW from near Edwards Find, south of Southern Cross. The remainder of the terrane comprises granitic rocks and their metamorphosed equivalents.

The Edna May gold mineralisation consists of high-grade reef structures and associated stockwork veining hosted within three en-echelon tonalitic gneiss intrusions (Edna May, Greenfinch and Golden Point). The deposits are bound to the north and south by an ultramafic ampbibolite.

Mining

Open pit mining is by conventional drill and blast, load and haul method. A bulk mining approach has been adopted to the extraction of remnant high-grade reef structures and associated stockwork mineralisation with a remaining life-of-mine strip ratio of 2.3:1. This allows the mine to employ a single mining fleet for most of the mine life. The open pit is being mined in four stages and is carried out on 10 metre benches and 2.5 metre flitches.

Processing

The process plant was purchased and transported from the Big Bell mine site to the Edna May site in 2007 and consists of a 2.0MW SAG mill and a 3.7MW Ball Mill along with other components necessary to provide a steady-state capacity of 2.6 million tonnes per annum.

The process plant consists of a conventional carbon in leach (CIL) process and SABC FF (SAG mill Ball mill pebble Crusher Feed Forward) circuit. The ore is metallurgically consistent with a typical metallurgical recovery of approximately 92%.

Geology

The Mt Carlton project is a high-sulphidation epithermal style deposit with mineralisation occurring within felsic volcanic rocks on the northern margin of the Permian Bowen Basin. The project comprises gold, silver and copper primarily as copper arsenic sulphides (enargite) and silver arsenic sulphides (tetrahedrite/polybasite) and some native gold (within pyrite).

The Mt Carlton deposit comprises two discrete zones: the large gold dominant V2 deposit and the smaller, silver rich A39 deposit. The V2 deposit is flat lying and situated 20 metres to 180 metres below surface and is 70 metres thick with a 500 metre by 500 metre areal extent. The two deposits are located 200 metres apart.

The stratigraphy in the Mt Carlton area is almost flat lying with a gentle 10 degree southerly dip. Sulphide veins dipping at moderate to steep angles to the NW host a majority of the known economic mineralisation.

Mining

Following the completion of the A39 open pit in FY14, mining production is now derived solely from the V2 open pit, utilising conventional drill and blast, load and haul methodologies. Mining equipment is contracted under a dry-hire arrangement and is operated by Evolution employees, mining 5 metre benches in 2.5 metres flitches.

The V2 pit will have a life-of-mine strip ratio of 2.7:1 and will be mined over nine years. The low-grade ore will be stockpiled and processed after depletion of the high-grade ore, to be processed post completion of open pit mining.

Processing

Ore is processed via conventional technology, consisting of crushing, grinding and flotation to produce a polymetallic concentrate.

Geology

The Mt Rawdon gold deposit is a massive, volcaniclastic hosted, low grade gold deposit that exhibits excellent characteristics conducive to low cost mining and treatment. The surface extent of mineralisation greater than 0.7g/t gold formed an ovoid zone 400 metres x 280 metres in diameter on the southern flanks of the original Mt Rawdon. The gold mineralisation is closely associated with fine disseminated pyrite within the host rocks as well as more discrete sulphide veinlets. Gold grade generally increases as pyrite alteration and sulphide veining increases. The principal host volcaniclastic rocks dip moderately to the southwest, as does the orebody.

Mining

Mt Rawdon performed exceptionally well in FY14 with gold production of 103,755 ounces and an average operating cash cost (C1) of A$670 per ounce. Mine production is derived from a single open pit, utilising conventional drill and blast, load and haul methodologies. The mine successfully transitioned to owner-miner in the September quarter 2014 with better than expected productivity and operating costs achieved. The operation is currently scheduled to continue until FY2023 with a remaining life-of-mine strip ratio of 1.8:1.

Processing

The processing plant consists of primary and secondary crushing, SAG and ball milling, followed by conventional cyanidation leaching. In July 2014, a significant milestone was reached with the 40th tonne of gold (approximately 1.41Moz) poured since production commenced in 2001.

Geology

The Pajingo mine mineralisation is hosted in structurally controlled epithermal quartz veins within an andesite host rock. In general, veining strikes grid east with tensional jogs producing high grade pods trending grid east-north-east. The main mineralised veins in the Vera Nancy corridor plunge at about 20 degrees to grid east.

Most ore bodies comprise a main vein, which carries the bulk of the precious metals, and splay veins that can contain economic grades but usually only when close to the main vein. The mineralised structures can vary from less than 1 metre to 15 metres in width, but are generally 1 metre to 3 metres wide.

Mining

Underground mining is based on modified avoca and longhole open stoping methods with ore hauled to surface via decline. Open pit mining is by conventional drill and blast, load and haul methodology. Pajingo gold production for FY14 was 60,766 ounces at an average cash cost of A$894 per ounce. FY14 saw Pajingo restructured with a move to campaign milling and a focus on underground operations only. This has seen a more consistent performance, with a strong focus on cost reduction, capital discipline and productivity improvement resulting in a reduction in costs.

Processing

Ore is free milling and is treated on site by conventional crush-grind-CIP processing to produce gold-silver-dorè. A total of 398,000 tonnes were treated at an average grade of 4.96g/t gold and a 96% recovery rate for FY14. The processing plant has a design capacity of 650,000 tonnes per annum.
