Share

Purchasing shares in a company buys you part ownership of that company. You're given the right to vote on who manages the company and receive a portion of company profits through the distribution of dividends.

Example: If a share price quote is $25, then that means one share is valued at $25.

Note: Shares are also referred to as stocks, equities and securities.

CFD

Is an abbreviation for "Contract for Difference". A CFD is a 'derivative' that is derived from the underlying value of the share price. A CFD’s allow you to go long (buy the CFD) or go short (sell the CFD).

CFD's give you leverage.

Example: Buying a CFD in XYZ provides you with an opportunity to purchase the shares at a variable rates such as 10 to 1 ratio instead of the full upfront share value cost i.e. paying $1,000 instead of $10,000.

Because CFDs are traded on margin, you must maintain the minimum margin level at all times.

Note: CFD’s are not recommended for novice traders.

General Overview

About Golden Cross Resources

Golden Cross Resources (ASX:GCR) is a mineral explorer with a copper-gold focus. Its major activity is the Molong-Copper Hill copper-gold project in central NSW. GCR also has other high quality projects across Australia as well as joint ventures funded and managed by GCR’s partners.

The Copper Hill Constrained Resource, (Lewis Mineral Resource Consulting, see ASX announcement 13 Dec. 2011) of 153 million tonnes, contains, at a cut-off grade of 0.2% copper and with average grades of 0.32% copper and 0.27g/t gold, 493,200 tonnes of copper and 1.33 million ounces of gold within a defined, constrained and optimised open pit.

Future drilling efforts will be aimed at discovering new zones beyond the current Resource. Metallurgical studies have been completed achieving copper and gold recoveries of 83% for copper and 70% for gold and producing a 24% copper concentrate containing 24g/t gold.

Completion of the Scoping Study was achieved at the end of 2011 based on an expandable 2Mtpa mill capacity. Financial modelling, using this throughput rate, ‘bankable’ copper/gold prices and a capital cost estimate of $155 million, did not yield results sufficiently encouraging to proceed. On this basis, a Definitive Feasibility Study has been deferred pending the emergence of any, or a combination of, the following factors: alternative mill throughput options, improved copper and gold prices, increased tonnes and grades and lower-cost processing technology.

On other fronts, GCR has defined a near-surface gold resource at Cargo, it has prospective tenements for IOCG mineralisation in the Gawler Craton of South Australia, exploration tenements with drill targets in the Cobar-Nymagee district (notably the historic Burra copper mine), large undeveloped phosphate resources near Mount Isa (farmed out) and retains an interest in the prospective Mulga Tank nickel-gold project in the Yilgarn Province of Western Australia.

Heron Resources provided, in March 2014, over $1.8 million by way of a placement to GCR with the bulk of those funds directed to a major drilling program at Copper Hill. Heron is now GCR’s largest shareholder with a shareholding of 19.9%. Heron personnel have designed the proposed drilling and test-work programs which all hope will lead to a larger resource, with improved grades, at Copper Hill. In October-November 2013 shareholders provided funds via a rights issue that raised $750,000 for additional work at Copper Hill, for drilling the IOCG targets in South Australia and for additional drilling near Cobar and at Cargo. GCR’s other major shareholder, HQ Mining Resources Holdings, was unable to participate in the 2013 rights issue but has contributed greatly in the past and has indicated its continuing support for GCR and its exploration activities.

Projects

Copper Hill

CR’s flagship copper-gold project containing a resource of 493,200 tonnes of copper and 1.33 million ounces of gold within a constrained optimised open pit

The 100%-owned Copper Hill project is well located near Molong in central New South Wales, about four hours drive from Sydney, via Orange.

Copper Hill is a typical low-grade porphyry copper-gold deposit and is potentially extractable by open pit mining. With excellent infrastructure and support from by the Molong community, it remains the Company’s most advanced project, with a mineral resource of 153 million tonnes at 0.32 percent copper and 0.27 grams per tonne gold.

Efforts to maximise the returns from Copper Hill using high mill throughput rates and a complex copper-gold-sulphur-iron recovery process could not clear the high capital cost hurdles estimated, in a comprehensive study by research group NERIN, to be over $700 million dollars.

In 2013, Golden Cross Resources, using data from all previous scoping, pre-feasibility, resource and metallurgical studies, conducted a series of assessments of the economics of the Copper Hill copper-gold deposit. These exercises have investigated a range of possible production rates detailing the various capital costs, operating costs and revenue streams likely to be achieved for each scenario.

Using metal prices at, or close to, current spot prices for copper and gold, the assessments demonstrated that mining and mill throughput rates of between 5 and 8 million tonnes per year provided the best returns. The company most recently modelled a scenario with a production rate of 8 million tonnes of ore processed per year for a mine life of 7 years, yielding a concentrate grading 25% copper and 22 g/t gold. At this scale, the project model demonstrates positive cash flow, but at rates of return that are unlikely to attract finance from conventional Western sources.

Cargo Gold Project

GCR’s 100% owned Cargo project is its flagship gold project and lies 12 km west of Newcrest’s Cadia-Ridgeway gold (-copper) mining operation. It is located within prospective rocks of the Molong Volcanic Belt (MVB), a package of Ordovician calc-alkaline island arc-related volcanics and sediments intruded by calc-alkaline and potassic intrusive complexes. The MVB is a major component of the Lachlan Fold Belt which contains several porphyry copper-gold style deposits and prospects including Cadia, Northparkes and Copper Hill.

GCR became involved in the Cargo project in 1996 and undertook extensive geological studies which indicated the presence of a large, concentrically zoned hydrothermal and mineralogical system, which appeared to be truncated to the west by a large fault. The Cargo host rocks are of a similar age and lie in a similar geological setting to those at Cadia-Ridgeway.

The system is characterised by a core zone of intrusive rocks anomalous in copper and molybdenum, and an outer arcuate zone of magnetic and pyritic volcanic rocks containing radial quartz-sulphide gold-bearing vein systems. The vein systems locally extend over substantial widths with elevated gold grades, for example, recent drilling has intersected, in three holes, 67m @ 1.15 g/t Au, 63m @ 1.15 g/t Au and 55m @ 1.27 g/t Au.

Based on recent and previous drilling results, GCR reported to the ASX on 21 May 2012 a near-surface gold resource estimate of 10.4 million tonnes at 0.84 g/t Au at a 0.5 g/t Au cut-off (283,000 ounces of gold). The size and nature of this resource has encouraged the company to initiate mining scoping studies, including a comprehensive program of metallurgical testwork.

South Australia – Gawler Craton IOCG Exploration

Golden Cross holds five tenements within the northern Gawler Craton and one in the central Gawler in South Australia. The tenements lie within several structural domains lying north of the highly prospective Olympic Domain, which hosts the world-class iron-oxide-copper-gold-(uranium) [IOCG-U] deposits of Olympic Dam and Carrapateena. The Mount Woods Inlier contains the Prominent Hill mine and two of GCR’s EL’s, Warriner Creek and Codna Hill.

Gawler Craton IOCG deposits are characterised by extensive hematite-magnetite (iron) alteration and brecciation, and typically comprise disseminated chalcopyrite, chalcocite and bornite copper mineralisation with associated gold. Additionally, the deposits often include uranium and rare earth elements (REEs).

Located within basement granites and volcanic rocks, these deposits are typically covered by several hundred metres of sedimentary sequences and consequently exploration techniques for this style of deposit are predominantly geophysical. Discrete magnetic and/or gravity anomalies have been identified within each of the Golden Cross tenements, and these will be targeted for further exploration including geophysical modelling and detailed ground geophysical (gravity and magnetic) surveys prior to drilling.

Golden Cross has been awarded a $75,000 drilling grant by the South Australian Department of Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy [DMITRE] as part of an exploration drilling funding program known as the PACE Discovery Drilling initiative. It will see co-operative drilling of six of the priority geophysical targets, and additional work is now being undertaken to finalise access arrangements, so that drilling may commence as soon as practical.

Warriner Creek, Oolgelima Hill, Codna Hill, Giddinna and Stuart Range Projects

The Mt Woods Inlier is a region of shallow Palaeoproterozoic and Mesoproterozoic basement rocks, although exposure is very limited. It underwent the same thermal and mineralising events that affected the Olympic Domain of the Gawler Craton, and IOCG-style alteration is widespread. The Prominent Hill deposit occurs on the southern margin of the Mt Woods Inlier.

Rock types comprise high grade Palaeoproteroizoic metasedimentary rocks intruded by syn- to post-tectonic granitoids. The metasediments are characterised by an intense magnetic response in regional aeromagnetic data, which reflects a combination of magnetite-rich precursor sediments including BIFs, magnetite alteration and probably mafic intrusive bodies. The inlier is bound by major shear zones, the most prominent of which is the east-west Karari Fault Zone marking the break with the Coober Pedy Ridge and Mabel Creek Ridge to the north. These two domains have not been explored to the same extent as those to the south but are known to contain critical elements such as Hiltaba associated granitoids and mafic intrusives.

An infill gravity survey was undertaken over select parts of EL 4427 Oolgelima and defined new magnetic/gravity targets adding to the five previous targets. Of particular interest is the exciting new drill target Anomaly SR11, which has a 1 mgal gravity intensity, and a footprint of 1.8 x 1.4 km with the long axis trending SW-NE, coincident with a pronounced magnetic anomaly. A second gravity/magnetic anomaly lies just north of SR11, and both meet the criteria for defining IOCG-type mineralisation at depth.

Stuart Range Project

This newly granted EL 4496 is centred on the township of Coober Pedy, and targets have yet to be defined by ground magnetic and gravity surveys. These will be matched with favourable structural locations identified from recent GCR-sponsored studies using regional airborne magnetic and government gravity data.

Koolymilka Project

The Koolymilka tenement application (ELA 2009/135) occurs 30km west of Olympic Dam Mine, in the northwestern section of the Olympic structural and mineralisation domains. The basement rocks include the Hiltaba Suite Granites and Gawler Range Volcanics that have been proposed as the source for copper-gold mineralisation in the province as well as providing the heat source to generate fluid flow, resulting in the extensive alteration events associated with IOCG-U mineralisation. The tenement occurs on the margins of the Andamooka Dome (an area of comparatively elevated basement topography), which hosts the Carrapateena deposit. Koolymilka has shrunk considerably with over 90% of its area excised by the Woomera Prohibited Area.

Burra Copper Project

The Burra Project [EL 7389] is located 40km east of Cobar in the highly prospective Canbelego-Mineral Hill volcanic belt in central NSW, part of the Lachlan Fold Belt. Mineralisation at Burra is both stratigraphically and structurally controlled. The two key prospects, Burra and Block 51, lie within a basal sequence of Devonian sediments and volcanics, above an unconformable contact with Ordovician Girilambone Group sediments. Although the Burra Fault is a major NW-SE trending structure in the Burra area, ore lenses are more closely related to smaller-scale cross-cutting structures including faults and fracture zones and possibly fold hinges. The Burra and Block 51 mineralised zones are characterised by coincident magnetic anomalies and copper-in-soil geochemical anomalies, and a third magnetic anomaly (so far untested) lies further to the southeast. A significant VTEM anomaly has been defined beneath the Burra Mine within the footwall volcanics.

The Burra Project has good potential for the discovery of Cobar-style deposits, with copper and lead-zinc mineralisation with gold/silver credits intersected in most drill holes. There are sufficient ore grade intercepts at the two key prospects to remain optimistic that economic lenses exist at depth. The lode geometry is complex, but encouraging copper intersections have been found over a strike length of 200m, and a VTEM survey has located a prominent electromagnetic conductor at depth below all previous GCR drilling at the Burra copper mine. The coincident nature of the airborne magnetic anomaly and the VTEM conductor at Burra is typical of the geophysical expression of several Cobar-style deposits.

Fairview Tank

Fairview Tank (EL 7065) forms part of a larger tenement package, the Canbelego Group, held by Golden Cross which was acquired to cover the Kopyje Shelf area between Canbelego and Nymagee. The tenement is located 9km south of the town of Canbelego in central western NSW, and the geological environment has similarities with the Cobar Basin located 50km to the west. The Kopyje Shelf is considered to be prospective for Cobar-style precious-base metal deposits that may have developed in favourable structural settings or stratigraphic contact positions, or combination.

One such favourable structural setting is the northerly trending Coonara Fault (Gilmore Suture equivalent). A favourable stratigraphic contact position, being the contact of the basal Devonian shallow water sediments of the Baledmund Formation [Djsb] and the underlying metasediments of the Ordovician basement Girilambone Group [Oyg], is displayed as a green dashed line.

In 2010, a trial ionic leach soil sampling survey was undertaken to improve geochemical mapping and enhance the potential to detect and resolve subtle geochemical anomalies over concealed mineralisation. The results are being evaluated and will guide the ongoing exploration program.

Rosevale

The Rosevale tenement (EL7097) is located approximately 10km north of the town of Nymagee. The region is considered to be prospective for Cobar-style precious-base metal deposits in favourable structural and stratigraphic settings.

One such favourable structural setting is the fault prism. This attractive structural setting is bounded to the northeast by a splay of the Coonara (Gilmore) Fault, and to the southwest by the Rookery Fault system (shown as dashed dark blue lines). A number of splays off the Rookery Fault transect the prism.

There are a number of old workings and prospects at Rosevale which occupy positions on or adjacent to the interpreted fault splays. These include McLaughlins Tank (Cu, Pb), Prospect 19 (Au), Box Tank Workings (Cu, Pb), and The Gap Prospect (U) which is on the contact between the Silurian Nymagee Igneous Complex [Sgn] and Ordovician basement (Girilambone Group [Oyg]), and Diddler reefs (Au) which lies on an adjoining tenement.
