The Company seeks to target niche opportunities in the industrial minerals sector in Africa and the Indian Ocean Rim countries.
The strategy is to identify, acquire and develop low capital expenditure projects that can be brought into production in the near term, providing an underpinning cash flow to grow the company and create value for all stakeholders.
Gulf’s current focus is on a large, undeveloped high quality Limestone Project on the South West coast of Madagascar. The Soalara Calcaire Project situated adjacent to a former (colonial) port facility and is 30km south of the major regional centre of Toliara.
A substantial amount of mining activity is planned for the region with the development of the Toliara Mineral Sands Project (World Titanium Resources Ltd) and, inland, substantial coal, graphite and vanadium deposits.
Gulf is a resource development company that creates value for shareholders through the identification, acquisition and valorisation of resource focused projects, with a particular emphasis on regions where Gulf maintains relationships that provide a strategic advantage.
Soalara Limetsone Project
In 2010 Gulf purchased the Soalara Limestone Project – a large, high quality limestone deposit demonstrating a chemical composition suitable for application in the cement, mineral processing and fertiliser industries. The Project covers an area of 12.5 square kilometers and is located near Tulear in the south-west of Madagascar.
