Northern Iron is an Australian Stock Exchange listed company which is the 100% owner of Sydvaranger Iron Project in northern Norway. The Sydvaranger project uses world class mining, rail, processing and port assets to produce and export high quality iron ore concentrate to steel industry customers worldwide. Product from the project currently contains iron ore content of approximately 68.05% and silica content of <.5.0%. Existing reserves offer a 25+ year mine life.
Northern Iron is also currently evaluating the projects with potential to expand the production capacity of the Sydvaranger operations, increase the resource base and further improve product quality.

The Sydvaranger Iron Project encompasses four magnetite deposits with JORC compliant resources (Bjørnevatn, Fisketind Øst, Kjellmannsåsen and and Tverrdalen), a further 20 prospects with known iron mineralisation, several of which have been mined previously; and world class mining and processing infrastructure assets to meet the production requirements of the project.
Since the commencement of operations in 2009 until the end of 2014, production has increased to approximately 2.4 million tonnes (dry) of iron ore concentrate per year, and the quality has improved to 68% iron content. The Company is under constant development, and projects for further production increases and quality improvements have been implemented. Projects
The Sydvaranger Iron Project
The Sydvaranger Iron Project consists of four magnetite iron deposits with JORC compliant resources (Kjellmannsåsen, Fisketind Øst, Bjørnevatn and Tverrdalen) and a further 20 prospects with known iron mineralisation located over a 12km strike length.
Sydvaranger, which hs approximately 400 employees is located adjacent to the towns of Bjørnevatn and Kirkenes in Norway, approximately 1,500km north east of the capital, Oslo. The mine at Bjørnevatn is connected to a concentrator facility and port via a rail line to Kirkenes which is located 8km to the north on the northern coast of Norway, providing direct access to the Barents Sea.
After acquiring Sydvaranger in 2007, NFE refurbished the existing mine and processing infrastructure on site and recommenced concentrate production in October 2009.
Northern Iron is investigating the potential to expand the production capacity of the Sydvaranger operations, increase the resource base, and further improve product quality.
