Founded in Victoria in 1961, the Company commenced trading as BBR Australia Pty Ltd with the first project undertaken to supply and install rock anchors for the Snowy Mountains scheme. Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange as Structural Systems Limited in 1987 the organisation has grown from a small privately owned specialist post-tensioning company to a diverse international contractor with offices throughout Australia as well as in the Middle East and Hong Kong. In November 2014 the Company became SRG Limited.

Macalloy Bar Systems

STSSRG are the licensed Australian agent for the sale of Macalloy 1030 Post-Tensioning Bar. Macalloy bar systems are ideal for the economic application of post-tensioning forces on relatively short tendons. Through the use of threaded connections and anchorages they are simple to use and lend themselves to many applications.

The robust coarse thread (CT) provided to the Macalloy stressbars ensures rapid and reliable assembly, particularly suitable for onsite use and reuse. The Macalloy bar system consists of high tensile alloy steel bars in diameters of 25mm, 26.5mm, 32mm, 36mm, 40mm, 50mm and 75mm provided with cold rolled threads for part or full length, together with a range of fittings. Bars from 25mm to 50mm diameter obtain their specified properties via a quenched and tempered process. Stainless steel Macalloy S1030 bars in diameters from 20mm to 40mm are made from precipitation hardened stainless steel.

Concrete Canvas

SRG is the licensed Australian agent for Concrete CanvasTM in the mining industry in Australia.

Concrete Canvas (CC) is a flexible, cement impregnated fabric that hardens when hydrated to form a thin, durable, waterproof and fire resistant concrete layer. CC allows concrete construction without the need for plant or mixing equipment. Simply position the Canvas and just add water.

Concrete Canvas can be used for various applications including;

ROCK Mesha®

The ROCK Mesha® is designed to install rolled chain link mesh products and requires minimum manual handling for installation of mesh to underground backs and walls. Product is delivered in cassettes which are mechanically handled into position for installation.

Using the ROCK Mesha® system, mesh can be installed up to 30% faster than the standard practice of sheet meshing in the underground environment.

The ROCK Mesha® can be retro fitted to any multi-boom underground jumbo or roof bolting drill rig. With a quick release system, the Jumbo can be transformed from a development rig to a full scale ground support rig within a matter of minutes.

They manufacture and supply zinc coated spirally wound steel ducting for all types of applications.

The corrugated duct is strong and flexible and allows for changes in profile not possible with PVC and other plastics.

Diameters between 45mm internal diameter to 160mm internal diameter (in 5mm increments) can be made to any length, normally 6 meters. Each length is fitted with a screw on coupler for easy instalment.

Barrels and Wedges

Barrels and wedges are used for locking strand in the hole of barrel or banana block.

They manufacture two different sized barrels and wedges, 12.7mm and 15.2mm.

Bridge Construction

Heavy Lifting

There is no real limit to the size of the load that can be lifted. As an example, they have successfully relocated a fragile, single-piece structure weighing 2,000 tonnes, we like to think that “the sky is the limit!”

Construction procedures involving load handling systems often result in considerable savings as compared to conventional building methods using traditional scaffolds for casting concrete or installing steel structural elements in place.

The application of load handling systems requires full consideration at the structural design stage, well in advance of detailing or construction planning. Selecting or designing the necessary temporary works and choosing the related equipment must be performed as early as possible.

SRG provide a complete slipform service and maintain experienced teams of personnel available to assist in all aspects of construction including design, planning, programming and construction techniques relating to the slipforming and formwork methods.

The slipform technique is a rapid and economical construction method that can achieve considerable cost savings when compared with the cost of conventional formwork. The slipform construction system becomes viable on regular shaped structures generally four storeys or greater in height, although multiple uses on shorter structures has been achieved economically in the past.

Advantages of using slipform construction include:

  • Greater speed and earlier completion of construction projects
  • Early completion of lift motor rooms and early installation of lifts, plumbing and electrical services
  • Reduced craneage as forms are lifted by hydraulic jacks
  • Reduced scaffolding and temporary work platforms as the slipform system contains its own platforms for working. This also results in a cleaner and less congested construction site.

Stay Cable Systems

SRG provides strand, wire or carbon stay cables for a wide variety of structures, drawing on both local and global expertise and resources of the BBR Network.

Stay cables may be plain strand / wire unseathed for temporary applications. For permanent stay cable applications - galvanised, waxed and individually sheathed strands which are enclosed in an external sheath are adopted. Alternatively, wires enclosed in a sheath with the voids then filled with a flexible corrosion protection compound are also used.

In recent years a fatigue stress range of 200 N/mm2 for 2x106 load cycles in combination with angular rotations at the anchorages has been adapted and is now specified by most codes and recommendations. BBR stay cable systems technology has fulfilled such fatigue testing.

Concrete Repair

Concrete deterioration causes serious problems for many structures ranging from the smallest residential complex to large commercial buildings and civil structures.

Structural Crack Repair


Crack repair technology has dramatically changed in recent years providing superior protection and strength compared to previous methods.

SRG utilises epoxy resins with viscosities close to that of water to penetrate into micro-cracks as fine as five hundredths of a millimetre, re-establishing the monolithic nature of the concrete.

The function of the exterior cladding, or façade of a building structure is usually straight forward – to be attractive, durable, windproof, waterproof and dustproof. Unfortunately, many facades suffer premature deterioration to the degree that weather proofing or structural integrity is compromised.

Façade refurbishment involves determining the true causes of such problems and then applying the appropriate solutions.

Architectural Restoration

When a heritage structure is in need of rehabilitation or preventative maintenance, it is essential that the right method of repair be selected. It is also essential that the work be carried out with care and precision by highly skilled and experienced personnel.

From facades and dome roofs through to bridges and arches, they have gained valuable experience working closely with clients to use the most appropriate repair techniques to suit their structure. This is then supported by site personnel with skills in detailed plastering, pattern making, epoxy injection, rendering, bricklaying and carpentry.

Cathodic Protection

Cathodic protection systems use electrochemical techniques to control deterioration of steel or concrete. Once limited to just protecting steelwork or rebar, CP based systems now exist to address the major concrete problems of carbonation and chloride attack.

By inhibiting the electrical processes necessary for corrosion, cathodic protection prevents it from occurring. This can be achieved either by applying a low-level current to the structure or adding sacrificial anodes to it. The exciting recent developments of chloride removal and realkanisation use a similar impressed-current approach to restore a correct chemical balance to deteriorated concrete.
