Things You Need to Know



  • Dthings you need to knowoes the company your broker works for hold an AFSL (Australian Financial Services License) or do they operate under an AFSL as an authorised representative?
  • Is your broker qualified? For example do they hold RG 146 qualification?

  • Does the company offer a PDS (Product Disclosure Statement) when you open an account?

  • Does the company offer an FSG (Financial Services Guide).

  • Does the firm have a street address?

  • How much brokerage are you paying? This can be extremely diverse depending on the advice you receive. You should always compare the brokerage for service with other firms.

  • Ask your accountant or financial adviser if they have heard of the company you are using.

  • Search the internet for news or other information on the company.
