Share

Purchasing shares in a company buys you part ownership of that company. You're given the right to vote on who manages the company and receive a portion of company profits through the distribution of dividends.

Example: If a share price quote is $25, then that means one share is valued at $25.

Note: Shares are also referred to as stocks, equities and securities.

CFD

Is an abbreviation for "Contract for Difference". A CFD is a 'derivative' that is derived from the underlying value of the share price. A CFD’s allow you to go long (buy the CFD) or go short (sell the CFD).

CFD's give you leverage.

Example: Buying a CFD in XYZ provides you with an opportunity to purchase the shares at a variable rates such as 10 to 1 ratio instead of the full upfront share value cost i.e. paying $1,000 instead of $10,000.

Because CFDs are traded on margin, you must maintain the minimum margin level at all times.

Note: CFD’s are not recommended for novice traders.

General Overview

About Bass Metals Ltd

Bass Metals Ltd is an ASX listed gold and base metal exploration company (ASX: BSM). Since listing in October 2005 the Company has focussed on exploring and mining polymetallic (copper, lead, zinc, silver and gold) deposits in north west Tasmania, Australia, and more recently has diversified its exploration interests to Turkey.

Bass Metals Ltd is a growth focussed Australian base and precious metal producer with a portfolio of high quality base and precious metal assets in the Que – Hellyer volcanics (QHV) of the Mount Read Volcanic mineral belt in northwest Tasmania. The QHV have produced in excess of 20 million tonnes of high grade poly-metallic base metal sulphide mineralisation assaying 0.4% copper, 7.2% lead, 13.7% zinc, 172 grams per tonne silver and 2.6 grams per tonne gold from the Hellyer and Que River Mines and there is excellent exploration potential to add to this inventory. Bass has an exclusive tenement holding of 144 km2 that covers all of the exposure and sub-surface extensions of the QHV.

Resources & Exploration

Poly-Metallic Resources

Significant basemetal resources remain within the Fossey-Fossey East orebody and also remnant mineralisation at Que River and Hellyer resulting in a base metal resource inventory of 1.92Mt of 0.6% copper, 4.2% lead, 7.5% zinc, 90 g/t silver and 1.3 g/t gold.

Exploration

The Company also has an active and successful exploration programme which has yielded new discoveries including Fossey and Fossey and new exploration targets through the use of new exploration techniques not applied in the district before. The Company's has significant gold and polymetallic resources and is currently undertaking a feasibility study following on from positive scoping study outcomes indicating the potential to become a long-term, significant scale gold producer from the Hellyer tailing projects..

Bass has differentiated itself through successfully finding high grade polymetallic resources, strategically and incrementally building up its assets and production profile to now become an emerging mid-tier diversified mining business.

Projects

Tasmania Exploration 100% Bass Tenements

Exploration

Bass holds a total of 11 tenements for 275 square kilometres Bass has an exclusive tenement holding of 144 square kilometres that covers all of the exposure and sub-surface extensions of the QHV. In addition to this two tenements are held in joint venture with Clancy Exploration (CLY), and an additional two tenements are explored in joint venture with Venture Minerals (VMS) and Stellar Resources (SRZ).

100% Bass Tenements

Bass holds three granted mining leases, one containing the Hellyer and Fossey ore bodies (CML103M/1987) one containing the Que River ore bodies (ML 68M/1984) and a third small mining lease (ML 10W/1980, 0.2 square kilometers) is solely to provide access to the Que River Mining lease from the Murchison Highway. Two exploration licenses enclose the mining lease (EL 24/2004 and EL48/2003) and a third exploration licence (EL24/2010) contains an area of limestone, a product required in any gold retreatment plant. A retention licence (RL 11/1997) covers the Mt Charter gold resource.

Continued intensive exploration around VHMS ore bodies such as Hellyer and Que River is supported by the fact that deposits of this style are often clustered and occasionally stacked at more than one stratigraphic level. In the past four years Bass has discovered three significant zones of base metal mineralisation, – Fossey, Fossey East and the McKay Prospect, two of which now have reserve estimations. These discoveries all occur within 200 meters of the large Hellyer ore body and confirm the potential for new discoveries on the leases.

Mineralisation within the QHV forms a continuum of mineralisation style. At one end of the spectrum is the precious metal mineralisation at Mt Charter, hosted in a barite stock work, with abundant pyrite and minor base metal. At the other end of the spectrum is massive base metal sulphide (BMS) at Que River and Hellyer. Fossey is an intermediate style, with both massive BMS and overlying precious metal rich massive barite.

The known ore bodies (except Fossey East, S Lens at Que River and perhaps Fossey) are stratigraphically related to a host horizon referred to as the “Mixed Sequence" This unit comprises epiclastics together with lava, shallow intrusives and volcaniclastics of dominantly dacitic composition, with minor andesite and basalt. Thickness ranges from a few centimetres to >300 metres.

The known deposits have an andesite footwall (dacite at Mt Charter), which at depth and along strike is strongly altered to a sericite-chlorite-quartz assemblage. Hydrothermal alteration is extensive, with the main zone referred to as the Hellyer Mt Charter Corridor (HMCC). This sub-vertical zone outcrops semi-continuously over more than five kilometres from Mt Charter to just south of Fossey. From here it plunges beneath hanging wall rocks for a further two kilometres and remains open and untested at depth to the north. Within the HMCC there is a marked alteration contrast between strongly altered rocks footwall to the Mixed Sequence and relatively unaltered rocks above this stratigraphic horizon.

Regionally the Mixed Sequence represents the known Ore Horizon but in detail mineralisation may occur at slightly different stratigraphic positions with respect to this unit, as is shown in the Figure below. At Mt Charter for example the known precious metal bearing baritic stock work occurs at the top of a very thick Mixed Sequence, raising the possibility of a deep target at the base of the Mixed Sequence.

Support for targeting mineralisation at stratigraphic levels other than the Mixed Sequence within the QHV is evidenced by:

S Lens at Que River has been interpreted as a BMS lens that developed some 10's of metres stratigraphically below the main Que River ore lenses,

Fossey East may be interpreted as an early stacked lens which developed stratigraphically below and to the east of Fossey,

Fossey itself may be slightly stratigraphically lower than Hellyer due to the presence of strongly sericite-silica-pyrite altered epiclastics in the hanging wall at Fossey,

The McKay BMS and baritic mineralisation east of Hellyer has been intersected stratigraphically well below the Mixed Sequence,

Small lenses of high grade BMS are known from within the Hellyer Basalt (hanging wall) at Fossey and north of Hellyer, indicating hydrothermal activity continued after Hellyer was buried and / or shallow intrusion of the basalt displaced pre-existing mineralisation to an apparent higher stratigraphic level,

In two drill holes to the east of Mt Charter, the transition from Lower Basalt to Footwall andesite (>200 meters below the Mixed Sequence) contains intervals of epiclastic with silica-sericite-pyrite altered and minor lead-zinc mineralised clasts.

Fossey, Fossey East and McKay Discoveries

Aberfoyle, the previous owners, were successful explorers and discovered the Que River and Hellyer deposits. In excess of $20 million was spent on exploration in the Hellyer to Que River area but no additional tonnes were discovered. The Fossey and Fossey East deposits are Bass Metals discoveries made in the past 3 ½ years. These discoveries highlight the fact that there is still significant discovery potential within the QHV.

The discovery history of both Fossey and Fossey East highlight that persistence (and a bit of luck!) is required to discover these deposits.

The Fossey BMS deposit was discovered in September 2007. A review of previous work had highlighted a zone of barite mineralisation with sporadic narrow high grade BMS intersections to the south west of Hellyer (the Southern Barite Lens). Bass geologists recognised a 100 meter wide gap in the drilling and the first hole into this gap (HLD957) intersected a spectacular 57.5 metres at 9.2% zinc, 4.7% lead, 0.3% copper, 94 g/t silver and 2.9 g/t gold.

During the Fossey resource drilling, several holes were drilled down dip from Fossey and the deposit was believed to be closed off. In September 2010 a geotechnical hole (HLD1014) intersected massive barite over 20 metres, with some base metal sulphides. An intersection of 2.5 metres at 6.3% zinc, 3.8% lead, 56 g/t silver and 1.8 g/t gold was recorded. This was recognised immediately as a Fossey type intersection and subsequent drilling confirmed some wide base metal intersections, including a best result of 20.4 meters at 0.6% copper, 7.2% lead, 16.3% zinc, 104 g/t silver and 2.4 g/t gold in hole FUD16. Mining of this new ore body may occur as an extension to the Fossey ore body.

The Fossey East mineralisation occurs deep within the footwall of the alteration system. This has major implications as it implies that mineralisation can occur deeper within the footwall alteration zone and there may be more than one mineralised horizon. This result opens up significant zones of alteration that have not been explored other than by cursory holes.

Once mining commenced underground it was confirmed that the northern end of the Fossey and Fossey East ore bodies were truncated at depth by the Easy Street Fault. Testing for a potential fault offset the McKay prospect was found with a discovery intercept of 7.0 meters of high grade massive base metal sulphide mineralisation assaying 22.3% zinc, 9.9% lead, 3.4 g/t gold, 181 g/t silver and 0.7% copper. Subsequent follow-up drilling has failed to identify significant extensions to this mineralisation, however this intersection is significantly lower than the Hellyer position and confirms that mineralisation can occur deeper in the alteration zone.

The pinch and swell nature of the Fossey and Fossey East mineralisation and the clear off-setting of these ore bodies highlight additional target areas within and near mine and that these require additional exploration drilling.

D Zone

D-Zone is a poorly tested high prospective alteration zone between Hellyer and Que River. Historical drilling is at nominally 200 metre centres and all holes intersected zones of alteration. Drill hole DA2: intersected 0.2 m of BMS assaying 0.4% copper, 4.1% lead and 6.6% zinc. The Host Sequence can be in excess of several hundred meters thick in this area and the footwall is poorly defined. Areas of highly anomalous geochemistry occur.

A series of exploration holes are currently in progress at D-Zone to test primarily for mineralisation but also to provide stratigraphic information on the Host Sequence, as well as geochemical and geophysical data. Alteration in these holes will be analysed for multiple elements and then assessed for proximity and vectors. Hot areas will be followed up with additional drilling. All holes will have down hole electromagnetics (DHEM) completed.

Que South

Que South has significant zones of anomalous trace element geochemistry typical of close proximity to mineralisation. In addition base metal intercepts from existing holes include:

0.5 meters at 0.4% copper, 5.4% lead, 15.7% zinc, 21.1 ppm silver in QR 26 and

0.5 meters at 0.1% copper, 8.8% lead, 15.8% zinc, 24ppm silver in QR28.

These intersections have historically been downgraded, as they occur in alteration footwall to the Que River and Hellyer ore positions however the Fossey and Fossey-East discoveries have raised the potential here significantly.

Switchback

Drilling at the Switchback target has intersected several holes with zones of base metal sulphide clasts hosted by clastic units within the Host Horizon (Figure 14). These results include:

9.3 metres at 8.5% zinc, 3.3% lead, 69 g/t silver and 1.6g/t gold in HED016 and

0.6 metres at 0.5% copper, 17.7% Lead, 26.8% zinc, 163 g/t silver and 1.4 g/t gold in HED21.

The presence of significant hanging wall and footwall alteration is indicative of an active VHMS system in this area and the presence of mineralised clasts indicates that it had ore-forming potential.

Clasts were observed in the clastic units directly over the top of the Hellyer and Que River ore bodies and up to several hundred metres away. There is no continuity of “clast rich horizons" between Switchback and either Hellyer or Que River and It is interpreted that these clasts have a local source. Further drill testing is required.

Other Targets

The multi-element geochemistry work indicated that arsenic (As), antinomy (Sb) and thallium (Tl) were highly anomalous. Aberfoyle has completed a comprehensive soil sampling program and analysed 8,700 samples for arsenic (Figure 15). This data highlights the known outcropping mineralisation at Que River and Mount Charter – highlights the D-Zone and Que South Prospects and also identifies additional targets at Barite Creek, Amoeba, Mt Charter West and Mt Charter North.

Tasmania Exploration Joint Venture Tenements

The sock Creek and Lake Margaret tenements are held in a 75:25 joint venture with Clancy Exploration (CLY), the Whyte River and Heazlewood tenements are held in a 30:70 commodity based iron-tin and tungsten joint venture and Stellar Resources can earn a 75% interest in EL36/2003 Whyte River in all commodities apart from tin, tungsten and iron by sole funding $500,000 of exploration over the next three years.

The Lake Margaret tenement contains glacial erratics with ore grade copper in a high sulphidation epithermal assemblage. The mineralogy of this erratic – an intensely silicified rock with pyrite, enargite and tennantite and trace covellite, stannoidite and mawsonite is very similar to the mineralogy at North Lyell and the high copper grade part of the Iron Blow. The fact that this mineralisation occurs in glacial float suggests that the original source may be outcropping but covered by glacial deposits. Further geophysical surveying, geochemistry, mapping and drilling is planned for this prospect.

Tasmania Resources

Poly-Metallic Resources

Significant basemetal resources remain within the Fossey-Fossey East orebody and also remnant mineralisation at Que River and Hellyer resulting in a base metal resource inventory of 1.92Mt of 0.6% copper, 4.2% lead, 7.5% zinc, 90 g/t silver and 1.3 g/t gold .

Hellyer Remnant Mineralisation

In 2007 Coffey Mining undertook a study and resource estimate of mineralisation remaining at the Hellyer Mine. A summary of the remnant resources identified by them is shown in figure below. Resources comprise a combination of remnant pillars and un-mined massive sulphide zones plus lower grade stringer mineralisation that underlies the deposit and has never been mined.

Que River Remnant Mineralisation

Bass mined several open pits at Que River for 3 years delivering high-grade ore to Rosebery under an ore sales agreement. Remnant base metal resources remain at Que River Mine, within three partially mined or un-mined ore lenses - S Lens, QR32 Lens and Nico Lens (see Figure below).

S Lens is a zoned sub-vertical lens immediately east of the main PQ open pit. The Zn-Pb rich northern end of S Lens has been mined historically (underground) and by Bass (open pit). The outcropping copper-rich southern part of the lens remains unmined.

QR32 Lens was mined historically from underground and recently by Bass from a small open pit. Remnant mineralisation exists at depth between the open pit and underground workings.

Nico Lens is a small (~100,000 tonne) sub-vertical un-mined massive sulphide lens. Although effectively outcropping, the lens remains un-mined due to its narrow width (average ~2 meters).

Precious Metal Resources

Significant gold +\- base metal resources are present in the Hellyer Tailings Dam and at Mt Charter and Fossey barite zone.

Hellyer Gold Project

The Hellyer tailings were produced between 1988 and 2000 as the residue from processing approximately 16 million tonnes of ore from the former Hellyer Mine. They are contained in a purpose built storage facility and submerged beneath water to prevent oxidation and generation of acid mine drainage. None of the Fossey tailings (also containing Au and Ag) have been included in the resource quoted in the Annual Report; however that remains an additional potential source of feed material.

The tailings contain in excess of 800,000 ounces of gold and 32,000,000 ounces of silver. Metallurgical studies have indicated that the Albion process is the preferred process route at this stage, though further work is planned, including some further roasting test work.

Mt Charter

In 2006 Snowden Mining Industry Consultants completed a resource estimate for the outcropping Mt Charter gold deposit, incorporating all currently available drilling data. The total resource estimated is 6.1 million tonnes at 1.2 g/t gold, 36 g/t silver and 0.5% zinc. The resource is reported above a 0 7 g/t Au cut-off within the interpreted mineralised envelope boundary and is classified as Indicated and Inferred according to the JORC code (refer Annual Report for 2012).

Some potential remains to define further mineralisation to the north and west of the existing resources.

Fossey Barite

The barite mineralisation overlying the basemetal mineralisation at Fossey is precious metal rich.
